Start here: 60 g coarse coffee · 600 g cold drinking water · 12–18 hours in the refrigerator. This makes a strong base; dilute to taste.

The method

  1. Combine coffee and water in a clean covered container. Stir until the grounds are wet.
  2. Steep in the refrigerator for 12–18 hours.
  3. Strain through a fine filter, then a paper filter if you prefer less sediment.
  4. Serve a small amount over ice. Add water or milk until it tastes right to you. Keep the remaining coffee covered and refrigerated.
