Start here: 30 g coarse coffee · 450 g water · water around 93–96°C / 200–205°F · 4 minutes steeping.

The method

  1. Warm the press, empty it, and add coffee.
  2. Pour in the water, wetting all the grounds. Give it a gentle stir.
  3. Rest the lid on top and steep for 4 minutes. Press down slowly without forcing the plunger.
  4. Pour all the coffee into cups or a separate server so it does not keep steeping on the grounds.

Adjust: Too strong? Add a little hot water. Thin? Try a slightly finer grind next time. Dry or bitter? Try a coarser grind or a shorter steep.
